CRIME STOPPERS / GUN STOP

The NYPD/New York City Police Foundation CRIME STOPPERS Program offers rewards of up to $2,000 for anonymous information to the 1-800-577-TIPS hotline that leads to the arrest and indictment of a violent felon.

  • Calls to Crime Stoppers have helped to solve over 5,000 crimes including over 1,100 murders and attempted murders.
  • Over $1.3 million in rewards has been approved to callers to the hotline.

1-866-GUN-STOP offers rewards of $1,000 for anonymous information that leads to the arrest of individuals in possession of illegal handguns.

  • Gun Stop has produced nearly 2,500 arrests and removed 1,500 guns from our streets.
  • $875,000 in rewards have been approved

Support needed:
The Police Foundation funds all Crime Stoppers and Gun Stop rewards and promotes public awareness of the hotlines. The Police Foundation also supports NYPD rewards programs to combat graffiti and fireworks.

  • The annual budget for rewards programs totals $500,000
