The International Liaison Program assigns NYPD
detectives to key international cities to collect and
relay terrorism-related information relevant to NYC
directly to the NYPD. Intelligence is analyzed at the
Counterterrorist Operation Center which was also
supported by the Police Foundation.
"The officers are particularly valuable because they ask
the New York question: Did New York come up in any
investigation?"
- Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly
• London, 2005 - Our post was in the tube at the
time of the terrorist bombing. He was immediately in
contact with the NYPD from the scene and conferred
directly with Scotland Yard. This information
was instrumental in the NYPD's strategic
personnel redeployment both in subways and the
streets.
• Madrid, 2005 - Our post responded with an
Interpol team and was the first non-Spanish law
enforcement person to arrive at the scene of the terrorist
attack and begin transmitting information back
to the United States.
