William J. Bratton has been appointed the 42nd police commissioner of the City of New York by Mayor Bill de Blasio, the second time he has held the post.

2013 Hemmerdinger Award


Jon Stewart presented the 2013 Hemmerdinger Awards of Excellence that recognize acts of exceptional public service. The annual prizes were estabilished by New York City Police Foundation Trustee H. Dale Hemmerdinger.
