The Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) applies advanced technology and software to the job of fighting
crime. The RTCC is the centerpiece of a visionary plan to equip the NYPD with sophisticated crime
fighting tools and prepare it to meet the challenges of policing in the 21st century.
"The Center puts valuable information into the hands of detectives before they leave the
squad room, so they hit the ground running in identifying and apprehending criminals."
- Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly
- The RTCC provides information and investigative support to detectives investigating violent crimes.
The information is provided directly to the crime scene in "real time."
- An NYPD Google-type search engine was created to help investigators "connect the dots."
"With the assistance of the foundation we were able to launch the Real Time Crime Center.
This new technology is a powerful tool in our commitment to protect New Yorkers and make
our city even safer."
-Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg
Support needed:
The Police Foundation has invested over $3 million to equip the Center and integrate the NYPD's vast
information resources. Funds to meet current priorities including broadening the scope of the RTCC
and applying these innovations throughout the department are approximately $3 million.
