13 Aug 2026 SYEP Career Day: Creating Pathways to Opportunity
This year’s Annual SYEP Career Day welcomed young New Yorkers to the Detective Steven D. McDonald Police Academy for a day filled with career exploration, hands-on learning, mentorship, and meaningful connections.
Hosted through a partnership between the New York City Police Foundation, the New York City Police Department, and the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, the event gave participants an inside look at a wide range of career opportunities in law enforcement, public service, and the private sector.
Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to engage with professionals, learn about different career paths, and gain valuable insight into the skills and experiences needed to succeed in the workforce. Beyond career exploration, the event encouraged participants to think about their own potential and envision the future they want to build.
Programs like SYEP Career Day create meaningful opportunities for young people to connect with mentors, develop professional skills, and discover possibilities they may not have previously considered.
By investing in these experiences today, we are helping prepare New York City’s next generation of leaders to make a positive impact in their communities. We are creating pathways to opportunity and Building A Safer City Together.
