50 for 50 Basketball Court Ribbon Cutting

50 for 50 Basketball Court Ribbon Cutting

The ribbon was cut yesterday on the new basketball court at the Baisley Park Houses in Jamaica, Queens. The project was funded through a grant from the Police Foundation’s 50 Grants for 50 Precincts program which is revitalizing public spaces across New York City.

14-year-old Aamir Griffin was tragically killed on the court by a stray bullet in 2019, and it had since fallen into disuse. Now through the dedication of local police officers working with the community, kids in the neighborhood have a new place to play.
