“Thank You, NYPD”: An Unforgettable Night of Appreciation and Support

On March 28, 2026, Madison Square Garden hosted the first-ever “Thank You, NYPD” concert — a special celebration honoring the men and women of the New York City Police Department. The event, which raised $500,000 for the New York City Police Foundation, will now become an annual tradition at The Garden.

The concert – spearheaded by MSG Entertainment CEO and executive chairman James Dolan – welcomed over 15,000 police officers and civilian employees, along with their families, for a free, star-studded event to honor their service. Attendees enjoyed performances by Grammy-award winning music legends John Fogerty, Cyndi Lauper, and rapper Fat Joe, sets by comedians Chris DiSefano and Sam Morril, and words of support from Tracy Morgan, Rosie Perez and John Starks. Throughout the evening, video tributes filled the arena from dozens of celebrities, sports legends, entertainers, business leaders, law enforcements leaders from the FBI to the DEA, as well as everyday New Yorkers who wanted to simply say, “Thank You” to the NYPD.

Topping off this memorable evening, the concert also generated vital support for the Police Foundation’s mission through an incredibly generous $500,000 donation made possible by Madison Square Garden Entertainment and other New York business leaders, including Bill Ackman, Founder & CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management, who personally contributed $250,000.

Madison Square Garden also partnered with several iconic New York City landmarks including the Empire State Building, One Vanderbilt, the Vessel, and One World Trade Center to illuminate the skyline in “NYPD Blue” on the night of the concert, while screens throughout Penn Station and the Garden displayed scrolling tributes honoring the NYPD.

New Yorkers across the city also joined the celebration by submitting heartfelt “Thank You, NYPD” video messages in an ongoing initiative to show their support: a powerful reminder that this city stands firmly behind New York’s Finest.
