Scholarships:

Eugene Marshalik Auxiliary Police Officer Scholarship – On March 14, 2007, Auxiliary Police Officers Nicholas Pekearo and Eugene Marshalik were gunned down on a Greenwich Village street while chasing down a deranged criminal who had just killed a local restaurant worker.

The family of Auxiliary Police Officer Marsahalik established the scholarship to honor his memory. The Auxiliary officers selected will each be awarded a four year scholarship at a CUNY school.

Raymond W. Kelly Graduate Scholarship for a degree in a police-related or Governmental Administration program at any of the following graduate schools: Brown University, Columbia University, Harvard University, Georgetown University, New York University, Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale University.

Richard L. Gelb Scholarship for the Harvard M.P.A. Program is awarded in honor of the late NYCPF Trustee Richard L. Gelb for his leadership, commitment and concern for public safety and the NYPD.

Eliot H. Lumbard Scholarship for the SUNY School of Criminal Justice is awarded in honor of the founding Trustee of the Police Foundation.

Chuck Barris Scholarships for New York University – Wagner School of Public Service are awarded in honor of Trustee Chuck Barris.

Excellence in Policing Awards:

Chuck Barris “Cop of the Year” Award is an annual prize established by Chuck Barris for significant contributions to public safety in New York City.

Hemmerdinger Awards for Excellence are annual prizes established by Trustee H. Dale Hemmerdinger to honor distinguished public service.

For Children of Police Officers:

Manfred Pakas Scholarship Fund is awarded for the education of dependent children of police officers who have died in the line of duty.

Eugen Grabscheid Scholarship Fund for children of police employees who are studying for a degree in the medical profession.

Visiting Nurse Services of New York Scholarship Fund for the education of children of NYPD uniform personnel who have died in non-line of duty incidents.

The Police Foundation provides scholarships and awards for the personnel and children of the NYPD. The Department administers the above awards and police personnel should watch for bulletins announcing eligibility and application requirements. Please do not apply directly to the Police Foundation unless instructed to do so.
