Empowering the Next Generation: Explorers at Camp Keowa

The New York City Police Foundation believes that building strong, lasting relationships between police officers and the communities they serve is key to a safer, more connected New York City. One of the most impactful ways we’re achieving this goal is through support of the NYPD Law Enforcement Explorers Program. This summer, the Explorers trained hard, built camaraderie, and honed essential skills at Camp Keowa.

The Explorers showcased their newfound skills in a variety of events such as the First Aid Competition, team-building activities like tug of war, mastering archery, and conquering the rock wall.

The experiences at Camp Keowa taught them not only physical skills, but they also learned the power of teamwork, resilience, confidence, and perseverance. They also had the opportunity to attend interactive workshops on everything from criminal justice procedures to leadership skills from some of the best law enforcement professionals in the country.

With the support of the Foundation, the Explorers Program continues to provide young people with the tools they need to succeed in all aspects of their lives.
