10 Sep 2026 Honoring the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 at the Hall of Heroes
The New York City Police Foundation helped commemorate the 25th anniversary of September 11 by proudly joining the NYPD in recognizing the courage, sacrifice, and enduring legacy of the members of New York’s Finest who gave their lives in service to our city.
On September 9, 2026, the Police Foundation helped unveil the newly renovated Hall of Heroes in NYPD Headquarters at One Police Plaza, including a dedicated September 11th Memorial Wall, created to honor members of the NYPD who have passed away over the last 25 years from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero in the aftermath of the attacks. Made possible through the generous support of Ken Griffin and Griffin Catalyst, the memorial provides a lasting place to honor the men and women of the NYPD who made the ultimate sacrifice, and serves as a powerful reminder of the extraordinary courage demonstrated by New York’s Finest in the face of unimaginable loss.
The Hall of Heroes will also serve as a place for future generations to learn about those who dedicated their lives to serving New York City, including the 23 members who perished on 9/11 and the 469 who have passed away from 9/11-illnesses in the years that followed. Their names and stories will forever stand as a testament to the commitment, bravery, and selflessness that define the NYPD.
The New York City Police Foundation is deeply grateful to Ken Griffin and Griffin Catalyst for their generous support in helping to ensure that the sacrifices of these heroes will never be forgotten. As we mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, we honor those we lost, remember their service, and reaffirm our commitment to #NeverForget.
