07 Aug 2025 Annual SYEP Career Day Held at Police Academy
Over 1,000 young New Yorkers participated in this year’s Annual Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) Career Day at the NYPD Police Academy in Queens.
Hosted in partnership between the New York City Police Foundation and the NYC Department of Youth & Community Development, the event offered participants a unique look into the wide range of career paths available within public service, law enforcement, and beyond.
These future leaders had the opportunity to meet mentors, explore potential careers, and gain insights into how they can help shape the future of their city.

“The state-of-the-art cadet training facility located at 130-30 28th Avenue in Flushing was transformed into both a playground and educational center for teens looking to take their next steps in life. After spending the summer working elbow-to-elbow with the men and women in blue, cops showed the wide-eyed youngsters department vehicles like helicopters and allowed them to partake in realistic scenarios through the use of virtual reality while also offering them the prospect of taking on jobs in the NYPD and beyond.” – Dean Moses, AMNY
